Matthias Lebeer

MATTHIAS LEBEER is a Belgian-British director who built an award-winning career in international advertising before shifting his focus to narrative filmmaking. Known for his emotionally resonant and visually striking work, he earned two Gold Cannes Lions for campaigns with Nissan and PlayStation. His close collaboration with global brands continues, including a major partnership with Sanofi for the 2024 Paris Olympics, reflecting his ability to craft compelling, story-driven content with worldwide impact.

Matthias co-created and co-directed This Is Not A Murder Mystery (Studio Canal UK, 2025) alongside Hans Herbots (The Serpent). The series reimagines the world of surrealist artists in a Knives Out meets The Great Gatsby whodunnit, set in the vibrant 1930s. It follows the early lives of figures like René Magritte and Salvador Dalí, capturing their artistic evolution within the eccentric world of surrealism. Matthias is also developing his first feature film, The Fearless Tigers, now in pre-production with the producers behind the Oscar-nominated films The Insult and Days of Glory.

His storytelling continues to merge his commercial expertise with a deep commitment to character-driven narratives, establishing him as a filmmaker with a distinct voice in both advertising and fiction.
